I’ve mentioned in the past that I love to create children’s birthday cakes.  There is just something about making a cake that will be part of such a special moment in a child’s life.  I have heard from many friends with little ones that their child’s birthday is as special for them as it is their child.  I think little I’s mom would agree.  Anne, a blogger herself, put so much thought into this fantastic party and it shows!  You really must go to her fabulous blog Haute Apple Pie (great name, isn’t it!?!?) and check out all the wonderful ideas she incorporated into her daughter’s 1st birthday party.  I am so glad that I was able to contribute a cake that worked so well with the overall look.

We knew the pinwheels would work well on top and to keep the rest of the cake simple, but with a bit of whimsy.  Anne also requested a small cake for adorable I to dig into herself.  I think both cakes turned out quite well.  Happy 1st Birthday I!  You are one lucky little girl with a fabulously creative mama!
